Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • Do you accept insurance?

We are a ‘cash pay’ practice. We do not directly take insurance, but recommend that you contact your insurer to confirm what coverage is offered for ‘Out of Network’ clinicians. In many cases, you are able to submit a ‘super bill’ to your insurance with a diagnosis code. This can go toward your deductible. There may also be a copay amount.

  • What are the costs? Do you offer a 'sliding scale' fee or discount?

All counseling services are based on an hourly rate of $150. Rates for additional services rendered will be determined on an as-needed basis.

Depending on your income or unique situation, we can work with you as space and availability allow. If you have a question about needing a sliding scale, please contact us. In the event we cannot accommodate you, we will try to match you with some lower cost counseling options.

  • How long are sessions and frequency?

The length of a typical session is 50 minutes, and generally the frequency of sessions is once a week in order to get the most out of the process. Longer sessions are recommended for initial client appointments depending on the complexity of an issue and for couples sessions.

  • What does the scheduling and intake process look like?

Contacting Jillissa Cooper Counseling to schedule an appointment is simple. The easiest way is to click Schedule Now to direct you to the current client portal. You will be asked some basic demographic intake information such as your name, email address and reason for seeking counseling services.

Next, you will be emailed your intake paperwork to be completed online. Once completed, your appointment will be confirmed via the online scheduling system. Please note that new client psychotherapy appointments can only be confirmed once ALL new client paperwork has been completed and received, and there is a valid credit card on file.

  • I have never been to counseling before. What should I expect?

Congratulations on taking the first step towards healing! You can expect to spend time in your first session going over your completed paperwork and discussing what brings you to counseling. Additionally, we will begin developing therapeutic rapport with each other, which will form the foundation of our work together. Lastly, we will discuss a personalized therapy schedule based on your presenting concerns.

  • What is Christian counseling, and how does that vary from regular therapy?

All Christian counselors are different in their approach and level of faith integration. We embrace a fully integrated model of Biblical Counseling. We take all there is from licensed professional counseling and tailor it to a truly Biblical worldview and the pursuit of truth. At one point, smoking was considered a health trend, so our approach is undergirded by seeking out your best interests and fastest path to healing, not by what is trending on social media the current cultural milieu.

  • What if I am unsure about my faith, or am not Christian – can you still help?

Absolutely! We counsel clients from all stages of life and worldviews – we’ll meet you where you are. Our ultimate goal is to walk with you as you navigate life and the pursuit of healing truth. Using a tailored approach that emphasizes mutual respect and dignity, we work with clients from a very broad spectrum of worldviews and backgrounds.
